Jimcy Platholi is an Assistant Professor of Neuroscience at Weill Cornell Medical College, affiliated with the Brain and Mind Research Institute. Their research focuses on neuroinflammation in neurodegenerative diseases, synaptic transmission mechanisms, and protein phosphatase regulation.
- Ph.D. (2008) and B.A. (1997) from Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences
- M.A. (1999) from New York University
Current research examines neuroinflammatory processes in perimenopausal Alzheimer's disease models, with a focus on hippocampal region-specific alterations. Earlier work investigated anesthetic effects on sodium channels (Nav1.3) and synaptic spine dynamics.
Recent publications demonstrate expertise in neurodegenerative mechanisms, with emphasis on Alzheimer's disease, cerebral amyloid angiopathy, and neuroinflammatory biomarkers. Earlier studies explored protein phosphatase regulation and neurogenetic pathways in auditory development and schizophrenia.
Active as a Principal Investigator since 2019, they have secured multiple NIH grants for research on synaptic mechanisms of general anesthetics and neuroinflammatory processes in neurodegenerative diseases.
