Jim Hansen is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto, affiliated with the Department of English. His research spans Gothic traditions, Irish modernism, film studies, and speculative formalism through interdisciplinary lenses combining literature, philosophy, and political theory.
His current projects include a book on Alfred Hitchcock’s Cinema and a study of Hegel’s Aesthetics. Teaching interests cover modernist literature (James Joyce, Oscar Wilde, Virginia Woolf), film analysis (Coen Brothers, Stanley Kubrick), and pop-cultural forms like horror films and graphic novels. He has contributed to journals and edited special issues on contemporary literature and the state.
