Jim Conlin is an Instructor in the Construction Management program at Northern Michigan University (NMU). He transitioned to academia after an extensive career in construction, including roles as a Project Engineer and Project Manager overseeing high-rise buildings, healthcare facilities, and wind farms. Currently, he teaches courses such as Construction Project Documents, Construction Field Operations, and Property Development. He is pursuing a Master of Business Administration at NMU while actively involved in real estate investments and small business ownership.
Education: Pursuing MBA at NMU.
Research & Expertise: Specializes in construction project management, renewable energy infrastructure (wind farms), and real estate development. His career spans diverse sectors, including healthcare and commercial construction, with a focus on interdisciplinary approaches combining construction and business strategy.
Professional Background: Over 8 years as a Project Manager for Mortenson Construction, managing wind farm projects across multiple states and Canada. Transitioned to academia to contribute to the advancement of NMU's Construction Management program.
Community Involvement: Engaged in real estate investments in Wisconsin and Marquette, MI, alongside his role as an educator.
