Dr. Jill L. Heyboer is a Professor of Music (Flute) at Missouri State University, affiliated with the Department of Music. She specializes in flute performance and music education, serving as the Woodwind Area Coordinator. Dr. Heyboer holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from Michigan State University, a Master of Music from Arizona State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education/Performance from Luther College.
Her professional experience includes teaching undergraduate and graduate flute courses, conducting the Missouri State Flute Quartet and Community Flute Choir, and serving as principal flutist in the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. She is a member of the Borderline Trio and Hong-Heyboer-Murray Trio. Dr. Heyboer has performed with orchestras such as the Missouri State Symphony Orchestra and Interlochen Festival Orchestra, and her recordings include works by Villa Lobos and Richard Faith.
Research and performance interests focus on contemporary flute repertoire, chamber music, and pedagogy. She has premiered works by composers like Robert Mueller and Zae Munn. Dr. Heyboer is also the faculty advisor for the Missouri State Flute Society, organizing annual Flute Day events featuring renowned guest artists.
