Dorli McWayne is an Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Music at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF), part of the College of Liberal Arts. She has been a faculty member since 1981 and serves as principal flutist for the Fairbanks Symphony and Arctic Chamber Orchestras since 1974. Her roles include director of the Fairbanks Flutists, performer with groups like the Aurora Chamber Players and Northwind Trio, and active involvement in youth orchestras and music festivals.
Ms. McWayne coordinates master classes with international flutists and maintains a private flute studio. She has premiered works with the Fairbanks Symphony and collaborated with the National Flute Association (NFA), including serving as conductor of the Professional Flute Choir and currently as Flute Choirs Coordinator. Her arrangements, such as 'Eine Kleine Nachtmusik,' have been performed nationally, and she has recorded on seven CDs with the NFA ensemble.
Her professional engagements span teaching at the Fairbanks Summer Fine Arts Camp, performing with the Anchorage Symphony, and appearing as a soloist with orchestras like the UAF Wind Ensemble. Beyond music, she enjoys gardening under the midnight sun and year-round running.
