Dr. Jiarui Zhou is an Assistant Professor in Environmental Bioinformatics at the Biosciences Institute for Interdisciplinary Data Science and AI, affiliated with the Centre for Environmental Research and Justice. His research focuses on biodiversity dynamics, computational toxicology, and environmental policy. Key projects include AI-driven biodiversity monitoring, chemical safety assessments using Daphnia models, and policy frameworks for biodiversity management.
Research interests span freshwater biodiversity, chemical mixtures analysis, and the application of multi-omics approaches. Recent work explores landscape-level drivers of biodiversity loss, hazard characterization of toxicants, and drug-induced cardiotoxicity using transcriptomics. He collaborates with organizations like the Environment Agency and Food Standards Agency on regulatory and conservation initiatives.
- Key Projects: Biodiversity monitoring with AI (2022-2029), Computational Toxicology Fellowship (2021-2025)
- Grants: European Commission, BBSRC, UK Environment Agency
Labs/Teams: Involved in the Centre for Environmental Research and Justice, leading interdisciplinary teams in data science and environmental justice.
