Jian Yue

Dr. Jian Yue is a Research Fellow and Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Microbial Pathogenesis at Yale School of Medicine, affiliated with the Liu Laboratory and the Microbial Sciences Institute. He joined Yale in May 2023 to advance his expertise in cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) and correlative approaches, focusing on bacterial type IV secretion systems (T4SS). His work employs high-throughput cryo-ET to visualize and determine high-resolution 3D structures in native contexts.

Dr. Yue earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2020 and previously conducted postdoctoral research at the Southern University of Science and Technology. His research integrates techniques like X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, and biochemical methods to study protein structure-function relationships in bacterial, yeast, and human cells.

His research interests center on bacterial secretion systems, cryoelectron microscopy, electron microscope tomography, host-microbial interactions, and molecular structure analysis. He has contributed to studies on ABCA3 lipid transporters and toxin-antitoxin systems in bacteria.

Dr. Yue collaborates within interdisciplinary teams at Yale to advance structural biology and microbial pathogenesis research. His lab affiliations and methodologies reflect a commitment to cutting-edge structural biology and translational microbiology.
