Mr Ji Tu is a clinician-scientist with NSW Health and an Adjunct Lecturer at the St George & Sutherland Clinical School and the School of Chemical Engineering at UNSW. He serves as Co-Director of Spine Biology at St George Hospital, focusing on bridging fundamental science and clinical applications in spinal disorders.

His research investigates the molecular and cellular biology of intervertebral disc degeneration, a major contributor to chronic spinal pain. He explores mechanisms of disc aging and degeneration, aiming to develop regenerative strategies. Parallel clinical studies focus on musculoskeletal health, with a passion for translating scientific discoveries into patient outcomes for spinal conditions.
Mr Tu supervises Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates, including PhD and Master's students, in areas such as aging, regenerative medicine, molecular therapy, spine biology, and orthopaedics research. He collaborates with multidisciplinary teams at UNSW and St George Hospital.
