Jessie Stead is an Adjunct Lecturer at The Cooper Union School of Art, where she teaches film, video, and audio courses. She is a New York-based interdisciplinary artist specializing in installation, music, cinema, text, collaboration, and performance. Her work spans art galleries, music venues, and film festivals, with solo exhibitions at Jenny’s, OCDChinatown, and Jan Kaps (Cologne), among others. Collaborative projects have been featured at institutions like the Museum of Modern Art (Warsaw), Fridericianum (Kassel), and Performa 13.

Research & Practice
Stead’s work integrates electronic percussion, sound design, and multimedia installations. She is a founding member of the art-band Hairbone, producing their debut LP Earth To Momma (2018) and directing music videos. Her recent projects include editing and sound design for the documentary George: The Story of George Maciunas & Fluxus (premiered at MoMA, 2018).
Teaching
She has taught at NJCU, CUNY, and Cooper Union, focusing on experimental film, audio production, and interdisciplinary practices.
Collaborative Projects
Stead’s performances and exhibitions have been staged globally, including at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA PS1, and Knockdown Center.
