Jessie Brennan is a Tutor (Research) in Visual Communication at the Royal College of Art (RCA), School of Communication. Her practice-led research focuses on urban social and spatial injustices, employing art and critical ethnographic methods to address issues like public space loss and housing inequities. She has led projects such as Custom House, Our House (supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund) and UNBUILD: a site of possibility, engaging communities in participatory art. Her work intersects art, pedagogy, and activism, aiming to challenge neoliberal urban policies.
Key research interests include critical theory, feminist praxis, and dialogical methods, with a focus on situated interventions in urban contexts. Brennan has exhibited globally, with works in collections like the Victoria and Albert Museum. Awards include grants from the Arts Council England and fellowships at UCL’s Bartlett School of Architecture.
