Jessica Terrill

Jessica Terrill is an Adjunct Research Fellow in the School of Molecular Sciences at The University of Western Australia. Her research focuses on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), with a particular emphasis on understanding disease mechanisms, developing biomarkers, and exploring therapeutic interventions. She has led several grants investigating biomarkers of dystropathology, including projects funded by the Association Francaise contre les Myopathies (AFM) and the Jain Foundation.

Her work combines mouse models, zebrafish, and canine models to study oxidative stress, inflammation, and muscle pathology. Key contributions include identifying oxidised albumin levels as potential biomarkers for disease progression and evaluating treatments like creatine and dimethyl fumarate. Her research also examines the role of taurine in muscle health and the impact of antioxidant therapies on dystrophic muscles.

Recent publications highlight advancements in antenatal therapy for fetal lung inflammation, modulation of DMD disease programs, and comparative analyses of treatment efficacy across animal models. Her projects often involve collaborations to translate findings into clinical applications.
