Andreia Nunes

Andreia Nunes, Ph.D. serves as a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. Her academic journey began with a B.S. in Biology from the University of Lisbon, followed by an M.S. in Evolutionary and Developmental Biology, and culminated with a Ph.D. in Developmental Biology, all from the same institution.

As a molecular biologist, Nunes focuses on muscle biology with particular emphasis on disease mechanisms, biomarker discovery, and therapy development for muscular dystrophies. Her research specifically targets Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) and Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), with investigations centered on immune responses during disease progression. Her work spans molecular mechanisms, therapeutic interventions, and biomarker identification across these neuromuscular disorders.
