Dr Jessica O’Bryan is an Associate Lecturer in Curriculum and Pedagogy at the University of the Sunshine Coast’s School of Education and Tertiary Access. A trained opera singer turned educator-researcher, she combines decades of performance and secondary-school teaching experience with scholarly investigation into music education, singing pedagogy, and assessment in higher education.

Research Interests
Jessica’s research centres on arts education, music education, singing pedagogy, and learning cultures. She employs narrative inquiry and qualitative methods to interrogate how teachers’ and students’ identities are shaped within conservatoire and tertiary settings. Recent work explores the interface between classical vocal technique and musical-theatre training, the emotional dimensions of studio teaching, and the use of audio-visual data to capture nuanced pedagogical interactions.
