Dr. Jessica Nute is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UT Health San Antonio). She holds dual roles as the COGS (Curriculum Oversight and Governance Subcommittee) chair for the Radiological Sciences Ph.D. program and the Master of Science in Medical Health Physics program. Her research focuses on Computed Tomography (CT), quality control processes, image quality metrics, and phantom development. Dr. Nute earned her Ph.D. in Medical Physics from the UT Health Science Center at Houston and her M.S. in Medical Physics from Duke University.
She teaches multiple courses, including RADI 5015: Introduction to Physics of Diagnostic Imaging (Co-Course Director), RADI 5090: Radiological Sciences Seminar (Course Director), and several clinical rotations for the Doctorate in Medical Physics program. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes self-directed learning and practical application of knowledge. She actively seeks student feedback to refine her instructional methods.
Dr. Nute was honored with the Radiological Sciences Graduate Program Teacher of The Year Award, reflecting her commitment to mentoring and education. She joined UT Health San Antonio to pursue opportunities in teaching and student mentorship, valuing the impact of supportive faculty on graduate students' academic and personal growth.
