Dr. Jessica Mee is a Senior Lecturer in Physiology at the University of Worcester's School of Sport and Exercise Science and a UK Research and Innovation Future Leaders Fellow. She holds a BSc (First Class) and PhD from the University of Brighton, focusing on heat tolerance in female athletes. Her research explores environmental physiology, emphasizing gender differences in heat acclimation and developing time-efficient strategies for military and athletic populations. She led a £300k Dstl-funded project on military heat acclimatization and currently directs a £950k UKRI fellowship on mitigating heat strain in females.
Qualifications include BASES accreditation in Physiology Research, Support, and Pedagogy (2015, 2022), and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2017). She advises the English Institute of Sport’s Beat the Heat team for Tokyo 2020. Teaching focuses on physiology, research methods, and independent projects.
Key research areas include post-exercise hot water immersion protocols, mixed-methods acclimation approaches, and practitioner guidelines for heat strain mitigation. She collaborates with universities and British Rowing on sustainable strategies for female health and performance.
Her work has been published in high-impact environmental physiology journals, with notable contributions to understanding gender-specific acclimation dynamics. Awards include the prestigious UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship and FHEA recognition.
