Jessica Gethin serves as Lecturer and Head of Orchestral Studies and Conducting at Edith Cowan University's Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), a position held since 2023 following 15 years of prior lecturing at the institution. An internationally acclaimed conductor, she has performed with major ensembles including the Dallas Opera, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, West Australian Symphony Orchestra, and Singapore Symphony Orchestra across four continents.
Gethin holds a Bachelor of Music Performance from Edith Cowan University (2003). Her research centers on conducting pedagogy across symphonic, opera, ballet, and film genres, alongside mental health advocacy in artistic communities and leadership development in high-performance ensembles. She champions innovative programming and composer collaborations while mentoring emerging musicians through WAAPA and industry initiatives.
Her scholarly work includes the Churchill Fellow Report (2016), documenting international research on conductor development through cross-cultural mentorship, emphasizing performance excellence and creative leadership in classical music.

She previously served as inaugural Chief Conductor of the Perth Symphony Orchestra (2011-2019) and currently holds Principal Conductor roles with the West Australian Ballet.
