Jessica Broad

Jessica Broad is a Professor of Ceramics at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), Savannah, GA, since 2009. She holds an M.F.A. in Art from the University of Arizona and a B.F.A. in Ceramics from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Her teaching spans undergraduate and graduate courses in Ceramics, Mold Making, Slip Casting, Ceramics Surface Design, Architectural Ceramics, Drawing, and 2D/3D Design.

Her professional experience includes roles as a Full-Time Lecturer at Longwood University (2007–08) and Adjunct positions at multiple institutions, including Anne Arundel Community College and Baltimore Clayworks. Her research and practice focus on ceramic art, sculpture, and studio arts, with an emphasis on innovative techniques and public art installations.

Broad has received numerous awards and grants, including the SCAD Faculty Sabbatical Grant and the Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Grant. Her work has been exhibited in prominent venues such as the Ogden Museum of Southern Art (New Orleans) and the Whitefield Gallery (Savannah). She has curated exhibitions, including 'Transplants' at Winter Street Studios during NCECA 2013, and participated in residencies, including the Lormina Salter Fellowship and Vermont Clay Studio.

Broad is an active member of the National Council on Education for the Ceramics Arts and has contributed to community arts programs, such as the YMCA after-school clay classes. Her teaching philosophy integrates technical mastery with creative exploration in ceramics and foundational art disciplines.
