Jessica Almqvist is a Professor at the Department of Law and Deputy Dean for Research at the Faculty of Law of Lund University. She also serves as Deputy Coordinator of the Human Rights Profile Area and Academic Director of the Master's Programme in International Human Rights Law. Her research focuses on international law of human rights, humanitarian law, criminal justice, statehood, international responsibility, and global health law. Almqvist has held academic and research roles at institutions including NYU, the Elcano Royal Institute, and the Autonomous University of Madrid.
Education:

Research Interests: Her work examines intersections between international law, human rights, and global governance, with a focus on legal frameworks governing statehood, conflict resolution, and health law. She contributes to Sustainable Development Goals related to legal justice and human rights.
Collaborations: Active in international networks including the Elcano Royal Institute and global academic partnerships. Engaged in projects funded by EU, Swedish, and Spanish institutions.
Labs/Teams: Leads or participates in initiatives such as the LU Profile Area on Human Rights and the Greyzone Genomics theme under the Pufendorf IAS.
