Jesse Nathan is a Lecturer in the Department of English at the University of California, Berkeley. His work spans poetry, literary criticism, and translation, with a focus on 20th- and 21st-century British and American literature. He is the author of Eggtooth (2023), which won the 2024 New Writers Award in Poetry, and editor of In the Shape of a Human Body I Am Visiting the Earth (2017). His critical essays and translations have appeared in venues such as the New York Times, Threepenny Review, and Poetry magazine.

Nathan is a founding editor of the McSweeney's Poetry Series and has conducted interviews with contemporary poets for McSweeney's online series. He is currently working on a critical prose project exploring form and disjunction in modern poetry.
