Rose McLarney is the Lanier Endowed Professor of Creative Writing at Auburn University, specializing in poetry and environmental humanities. She co-edits the journal Southern Humanities Review and contributes to Southern Appalachian literary and ecological anthologies.

Her research focuses on creative writing, particularly poetry that explores themes of Southern Appalachia, biodiversity, and cultural history. Her notable works include the poetry collections Colorfast, Forage, and Its Day Being Gone, and the anthology A Literary Field Guide to Southern Appalachia.
Rose’s awards include the National Poetry Series, Chaffin Award for Appalachian Writing, and fellowships from MacDowell, Bread Loaf, and Sewanee Writers’ Conferences. Her poetry has appeared in American Poetry Review, The Kenyon Review, and The Oxford American.
