Dr. Jerry Volcy is a Professor and Brown-Simmons Professor in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences at Spelman College, serving as interim department chair and director of the Innovation Lab. He holds a Ph.D. from Georgia Institute of Technology’s Mechanical Engineering program, with prior roles at Lucent Bell Labs and SoftWear Automation. His research focuses on computer science pedagogy for women and fostering diversity in engineering. He also holds two patents in optical measurement systems and has led interdisciplinary projects like the Electric Fish installation.
