Jerry Kimbrough is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Guitar at the Blair School of Music, Vanderbilt University, where he has been teaching since 2006. He plays an active role in Nashville's music community as a performer, educator, and leader.

His research and professional interests center on guitar performance across diverse genres, including jazz, studio recording, orchestration, and music for film and television. He emphasizes real-world musical experience, having learned through extensive session work on Music Row and studying with influential figures like Mick Goodrick and Randall Dollahon.
Kimbrough maintains strong ties with the professional music world, frequently engaging with top-tier artists and attending events like the Alt Guitar Summit. He also contributes to music leadership through roles in organizations such as Leadership Music and the Nashville Musicians Association, AFM 257.
