Jerry Gabriel is an Associate Professor of English at St. Mary's College of Maryland. He is based in the Department of English, located in Montgomery Hall. His academic and creative work spans creative writing, science writing, journalism, and oral history.

Research and Creative Work: Jerry Gabriel specializes in creative writing pedagogy and practice, with a focus on narrative techniques in fiction, science writing, and interdisciplinary approaches to journalism and oral history. His publications include two acclaimed books: Drowned Boy (Sarabande Books, 2010), which won the Mary McCarthy Prize and was a Barnes and Noble 'Discover Great New Writers' selection, and The Let Go (Queen's Ferry Press, 2015). His work has appeared in prestigious literary journals such as One Story, The Missouri Review, and Fiction, and has been shortlisted for a Pushcart Prize.
