Jerry Edward Chipuk

Dr. Jerry Edward Chipuk is a Professor in both Oncological Sciences and Dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. His research laboratory focuses on the intersection of mitochondrial biology and cell death pathways in cancer development and treatment response.

Dr. Chipuk's research interests center around three main areas:

• The biochemical, physiological, and structural consequences of protein-protein interactions within the BCL-2 family
• How the mitochondrial environment influences BCL-2 family function and core cell death machinery
• How oncogenic and tumor suppressor signals intersect with mitochondrial dynamics to regulate tumorigenesis and chemosensitivity

His laboratory employs state-of-the-art apoptosis, metabolism, and cancer biology model systems, with particular focus on hematological malignancies and melanoma. Dr. Chipuk has published over 100 research articles in his field.
