Tenor saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi is an internationally recognized jazz performer, composer, author, and educator at New England Conservatory (NEC). Holding a BA from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, he has received three National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) grants. Bergonzi has performed globally at major jazz festivals and venues, with over 60 recordings to his credit, including Standard Gonz with the Jerry Bergonzi Quartet on Blue Note Records.

As a clinician, Bergonzi has taught at conservatories and music schools across the U.S. and Europe. He authored the influential Inside Improvisation series (seven volumes) and Sound Advice, published by Advance Music and available in multiple languages. His instructional work spans saxophone techniques, melodic structures, and improvisation pedagogy.
Bergonzi founded Not Fat Records, releasing six albums, and has recorded for major labels like Blue Note, Concord, and Enja. He has provided private instruction for 30 years, shaping generations of jazz musicians.
