Jenny Pierce

Jenny Pierce, PhD, is a Research Fellow at the University of Utah School of Medicine, Department of Otolaryngology: Head & Neck Surgery. She is actively involved in translational research through the Voice, Airway, Swallowing Translational (VAST) Research Lab and serves as a clinical speech-language pathologist at LDS Hospital Voice and Swallowing Center.

Her research focuses on neurogenic voice disorders, particularly laryngeal dystonia and vocal tremor. Key areas include:

• Vocal fold scar treatment with corticosteroids and asthma effects
• Voice acoustic measures in normal and disordered voices
• Laryngeal manifestations of autoimmune disorders
• Gender diverse voice therapy outcomes
• Vocal fold paralysis etiology and treatment
• Swallowing disorders in systemic diseases

Dr. Pierce's publications (2014-2024) demonstrate consistent contributions to voice science, swallowing disorders, and laryngeal manifestations of systemic diseases, with recent emphasis on gender diverse voice therapy and voice acoustic biomarkers. Her work spans clinical research, translational studies, and epidemiologic analyses of voice and swallowing conditions.

As a member of the VAST Research Lab, she contributes to multidisciplinary research bridging clinical practice and translational science in voice and swallowing disorders.
