معرفی
Dr Jenny Maunder is a Lecturer in Physical Chemistry at Durham University's Department of Chemistry. She completed her MChem (Hons) in 2018 and PhD in 2024 under Prof. Sharon Cooper at the Soft Matter and Function Interfaces (SOFI) Centre for Doctoral Training. Her current work focuses on curriculum development, particularly for undergraduate teaching laboratories.
- Education:
- MChem (Hons) in Chemistry, Durham University
- PhD in Crystallisation in Confined Phases, Durham University
Research Interests:
Dr Maunder's research spans three domains. First, she investigates crystallisation in confinement, exploring thermodynamic control through structured ternary fluids (STFs) as surfactant-free nanocrystal incubators. Second, she studies crystallisation kinetics, focusing on nucleation-growth dynamics in complex fluids. Third, she pioneers chemical education innovations, redesigning curricula to integrate interdisciplinary practical courses and multimodal assessment frameworks.
Publications: Her work on STFs as thermodynamic control agents for polymorph selection in glycine crystallisation (2022) demonstrates her interdisciplinary expertise bridging materials chemistry and education.
- Teaching Roles:
- Module Leader: Practical Chemistry 2 & 3 (Measurement and Integrated strands)
- Lecturer: Chemical Kinetics (Core Chemistry 1)
- Developer of assessment reforms incorporating oral presentations, posters, and viva interviews
- Labs & Collaborations:
- Soft Matter and Function Interfaces (SOFI) CDT
- Enhancing Pedagogy in Chemistry (EPiC) research group
- Collaboration with Prof. Aurora Cruz-Cabeza and Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre
