Jennifer Stephens

Jennifer Stephens is a Professor at the West Virginia University (WVU) College of Law, joining in 2024. Her roles include litigator, prosecutor, and legal educator. She holds a J.D. from WVU College of Law (2006) and a B.A. from WVU (2000).

Her research focuses on family law, child welfare, and legal advocacy, with extensive experience in domestic violence cases and child abuse prosecution. She supervised students in the Child and Family Advocacy Clinic for five years, emphasizing hands-on legal representation for vulnerable populations.

Prior roles include Assistant Prosecuting Attorney (2012–2018; 2019–2024), private practice specializing in family law, and judicial clerkship for Honorable Lawrance S. Miller, Jr. (2006–2007). She is actively involved in the community, serving on the Board of Directors for the Rape and Domestic Violence Center in Morgantown.

Bar admissions include the Northern District of West Virginia and West Virginia state courts. She resides in Morgantown with her family and cats.
