Jennifer Robyn Potts is a Professor in the Department of Biology, with former roles as a Reader in Chemistry and Head of Department in Biology. Her research focuses on bacterial proteins involved in host-pathogen interactions and biofilm formation. She employs techniques like nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, and isothermal titration calorimetry to study protein structures and mechanical properties.
She has led or co-investigated multiple funded projects, including SHIRT: a novel non-antibody scaffold (BBSRC, 2020–2021) and Auto-Fungan: Automating the continuous anaerobic digestion of wheat straw (EPSRC, 2019–2022). Recent activities include invited talks at the Protein Society Annual Symposium (2018) and outreach events with local Guide groups.
Potts has published over 60 articles, with recent work exploring bacterial surface protein modifications and their roles in pathogenesis. She collaborates internationally and holds an ORCID identifier (0000-0002-1734-6425).
