Professor Jennifer Potts is the Head of School for the School of Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Sydney. She holds a BSc (First Class Honours with University Medal) and PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Sydney, followed by postdoctoral research at the University of Oxford. Her career includes a 40th Anniversary Readership at the University of York under British Heart Foundation fellowships, where she became Chair of Molecular Biophysics and Head of Department.
- Education: BSc (Hons I/University Medal), PhD (Biochemistry) – University of Sydney
- Fellowships: NH&MRC C.J. Martin Fellowship (Oxford), British Heart Foundation Fellowships (York)
Her research focuses on molecular biophysics and bacterial surface protein interactions. Recent work explores Staphylococcal adhesins and acyltransferase functions in pathogen biology. Key contributions include structural studies of microbial virulence mechanisms.
Grants: 2021 Australian Research Council Linkage Infrastructure grant for high-performance X-ray crystallography facilities (co-PI).
Awards include the University Medal, NH&MRC and British Heart Foundation fellowships, and sustained research leadership roles.
