Dr. Jennifer Phillips is a Scientist in the Mood Disorders Research Unit at The Royal’s Institute of Mental Health Research (IMHR), an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa, and an Adjunct Research Professor in the Department of Neuroscience at Carleton University.
- BSc in Neuroscience from Brock University
- PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Ottawa
Her research focuses on clinical neuroscience, specifically depression and suicide prevention, utilizing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and peripheral biomarkers. Key projects include:
- Investigating the biological underpinnings of depression and suicide
- Testing low-dose ketamine efficacy for treatment-resistant depression
- Examining sex-specific risk factors for suicidal behaviors through clinical and psychosocial determinants
Her work is supported by grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the University of Ottawa Medical Research Fund (UMRF).
Dr. Phillips leads the Phillips Lab, which is embedded in the Mood Disorders Research Unit at The Royal’s IMHR. The lab aims to enhance depression characterization for improved treatment outcomes.
