Jennifer Manyweathers is a Senior Lecturer in Ruminant Health and Epidemiology at Charles Sturt University's School of Agricultural, Environmental and Veterinary Sciences. She holds a BSci(Hons), BVSci(Hons), Grad Dip Sci Comm, PhD, and Master of Teaching (Secondary). Her career spans research chemistry in Japan, veterinary practice, science communication roles at Questacon and Tsukuba University, and postdoctoral work on biosecurity and disease preparedness.
Her research focuses on sociopsychological factors influencing decision-making in biosecurity contexts, vet-client communication, and animal health surveillance. Key areas include Hendra virus vaccine adoption, farmer-led partnerships for foot-and-mouth disease preparedness, and smallholder pig producers' resilience against African swine fever. She emphasizes constructivist pedagogy in teaching, integrating interactive assessments to align with veterinary graduate outcomes.
Recent projects examine biosecurity perceptions in NSW sheep producers post-Indonesian FMD outbreaks, stakeholder engagement in syndromic surveillance, and traceability barriers in Australian livestock industries. Her work bridges veterinary science with human behavior, aiming to improve policy and training for animal/human health.
