Jennifer M. Chacón is the Bruce Tyson Mitchell Professor of Law at Stanford Law School. She has held prior appointments at UC Berkeley School of Law, UCLA School of Law, UC Davis King Hall School of Law, and served as a Visiting Professor at Harvard Law School. Her research focuses on immigration law, criminal law, and constitutional law, exploring intersections with race, citizenship, and social justice. She co-authored Immigration Law and Social Justice and Legal Phantoms.

Research Interests: Chacón’s work examines how immigration policies and law enforcement shape racial identity, civic engagement, and social belonging. Her scholarship bridges legal frameworks with sociocultural impacts, particularly in Southern California immigrant communities. She has been funded by the Russell Sage Foundation and National Science Foundation.
