Kunal M. Parker is Professor of Law and Associate Dean for Intellectual Life at the University of Miami School of Law. He is also recognized as the Dean's Distinguished Scholar, reflecting his significant contributions to legal scholarship and academic leadership.
His research lies at the intersection of legal history, constitutional law, and immigration policy, with a particular focus on the historical evolution of citizenship, rights of noncitizens, and procedural justice in American legal thought. His work critically examines how legal concepts have developed over time and how they shape contemporary debates on inclusion and exclusion.
Parker’s recent publications span top-tier journals such as Stanford Law Review, Journal of American History, and Law and History Review. Collectively, these works reflect a sustained engagement with themes of civic belonging, historical contingency in law, and the ideological foundations of U.S. immigration and citizenship policies. His scholarship often takes the form of critical reflections and book reviews that deepen scholarly discourse.
As Associate Dean for Intellectual Life, he plays a key role in fostering academic inquiry, supporting faculty scholarship, and enhancing the intellectual environment at the law school.
