Dr. Jennifer M Lund is a Professor in the Department of Global Health at the University of Washington, affiliated with the School of Public Health and School of Medicine. She serves as Director of the PhD in Pathobiology and Interdisciplinary Pathobiology Program. Her work focuses on immunobiology, mucosal immunity, and regulatory T cells (Tregs) in combating viral infections.
- Education: PhD and MS in Immunobiology from Yale University, AB in Biology from Macalester College.
Dr. Lund's research explores the dual role of Tregs in autoimmune regulation and immune activation against pathogens. She investigates mucosal immunity and immune responses to Herpes Simplex virus-2, West Nile virus, HIV, and Zika virus, aiming to improve vaccines and therapies for infectious diseases.
Her publications highlight Tregs' mechanisms in viral infections and mucosal barriers, with recent work analyzing CD8+ T cell dynamics in the cervicovaginal tract and genetic variation in immune responses. Key research themes include host-pathogen interactions, virology, and immunological memory.
- Affiliations: Fred Hutch Cancer Center, Center for AIDS Research (CFAR), Pathobiology Graduate Program.
Dr. Lund leads the Lund Lab, which studies mucosal immunity and Tregs using mouse models and human tissues. Her work has global health implications for combating viral infections at entry points like mucosal barriers.
