Professor Jennifer Hudson is Vice-Provost (Faculties) at University College London (UCL) and holds the rank of Professor of Political Behaviour in the Department of Political Science. She directs the Development Engagement Lab (DEL), a multi-country initiative partnering with NGOs and governments to study public support for aid and sustainable development. Her research focuses on political behavior, public opinion dynamics, international development, climate policy, and electoral politics. Funded by organizations like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the ESRC, her work bridges methodological rigor with real-world policy implications. Key contributions include analyzing Brexit’s impact on immigration attitudes, climate policy framing, and the role of emotions in development appeals. Professor Hudson has authored influential articles on foreign aid misperceptions, personalized representation, and parliamentary ethics following the 2009 MPs’ expenses scandal. She also leads projects exploring global poverty engagement and the efficacy of political communication strategies.
Her work spans cross-national studies, experimental designs, and policy-oriented research. Grants and collaborations underscore her commitment to impactful scholarship. Beyond academia, her administrative role as Vice-Provost reflects her leadership in advancing UCL’s academic missions.
