Jennifer Dunsford is an Assistant Professor at the College of Nursing, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba. Her research and teaching focus on nursing ethics, bioethics, and ethical decision-making, particularly in the context of workplace violence and vulnerability. She is actively involved in graduate supervision, mentoring both Master’s and PhD students.

Her research centers on ethical challenges in nursing, particularly how nurses make decisions when their own safety is at risk. She developed Salient Vulnerability Theory, which explains how perceived vulnerability shifts moral obligation and justifies withdrawal from unsafe care situations. Her work integrates Carper’s Patterns of Knowing and emphasizes the relational and ethical dimensions of nursing practice.

Jennifer is affiliated with the Helen Glass Centre for Nursing at the University of Manitoba’s Fort Garry campus, where she conducts research and teaches professional foundations and nursing practice courses in the Bachelor of Nursing program.
