Jennifer Dein

Jennifer Dein is a Senior Lecturer in Secondary Education at the Department of Teacher Education, Sheffield Hallam University. She holds a BA (Hons), PGCE in Design and Technology Education, and an MA. Her expertise spans curriculum development, technology-enhanced learning, and the history of design education. She previously worked as an Interior Designer for a decade before transitioning to education.

Key Roles:

• Course Leader for the 3-year BSc Secondary Design and Technology Education
• Teaching and Communication Champion for Undergraduate/Postgraduate programs
• External Examiner for Wolverhampton University's PGCE program

Research & Projects: Led the Technology Enhancement Programme (TEP) resulting in nine curriculum guidance units. Involved in initiatives like the TDA-funded Design and Technology Education Recruitment Project, Millennium Schools Project, and the Home Office's Design Against Crime Project. Active in curriculum development for South Yorkshire schools through ICSYS.

Outreach: Organized ITT taster courses, 'Looking After Children' events, and teacher training workshops. Member of the Design and Technology Association.
