Dr. Jennifer Corns is a Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Glasgow, specializing in the philosophy of mind, ethics, and pain studies. Her research focuses on integrating everyday concepts of pain and suffering into scientific and ethical frameworks to enhance human well-being. She holds a position in the Philosophy department at the university's Oakfield Avenue campus.
Her research interests include pain theory, agency, autonomy, and the ethical implications of suffering. She has supervised two doctoral students, Jodi Miller and Qiuxuan Zheng, on topics ranging from expressive theory in the arts to moral responsibility in manipulated will scenarios.
Dr. Corns has published extensively on pain's philosophical dimensions, including monographs like The Complex Reality of Pain (2020) and edited volumes such as the Routledge Handbook of Philosophy of Pain (2017).
