Jennifer Bowler is a Lecturer in Psychology at the University of East Anglia, affiliated with the School of Psychology and the Cognition, Action and Perception research group. She holds a PhD from UEA on attentional processing in pain and has degrees from the University of St Andrews and University of Glasgow. Her research focuses on cognition-emotion relationships, pain experience, and cognitive biases related to anxiety, depression, and chronic pain. She develops evidence-based interventions targeting these mechanisms.

Her research interests include attentional and interpretive biases, their clinical implications, and translational approaches to mental health and pain management. Recent studies explore attentional bias modification in pain and aggression contexts.
Teaching responsibilities include coordinating quantitative methods modules, dissertation supervision, and various undergraduate/graduate courses. She currently supervises PhD students and oversees MSc programs in Cognitive Neuroscience, Developmental Science, and Social/Applied Psychology as Deputy Programme Director.
