Bram Van Bockstaele

Bram Van Bockstaele is an Honorary Research Fellow at the School of Psychological Science, University of Western Australia, affiliated with the Centre for the Advancement of Research on Emotion. He holds a Master’s in Theoretical and Experimental Psychology (Ghent University, 2007) and a PhD in Psychological Science (Ghent University, 2011). His research focuses on cognition-emotion interactions, particularly cognitive biases (attention, interpretation, action tendencies, memory), emotion regulation, fear, anxiety, addiction, aggression, mindfulness, and lie detection.

• Interplay between cognitive biases and emotional responses
• Development of psychometric tools for assessing social anxiety
• Mindfulness’s role in post-traumatic stress vulnerability
• Intergenerational transmission of anxiety via parental communication
