Professor Jena Heath serves as Professor of Journalism & Digital Media and Associate Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities at St. Edward's University. She holds an M.S. from Columbia University and an A.B. from Smith College. Her research focuses on oral history and digital storytelling, including her role as managing editor of Sound Historian. She coordinates the Journalism & Digital Media minor and directs the Digital Storytelling and Content Creation major. Recent grants include a National Endowment for the Humanities award supporting curriculum development in oral history/audio storytelling.
Teaching focuses on preparing students for digital newsrooms through professional skill development and internship opportunities. She emphasizes storytelling in AI-driven contexts while addressing societal challenges. Awards include finalist status for the 2012-13 University Distinguished Teaching Award.
