Jemima John

Jemima John is an Assistant Professor at the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health, specializing in the Department of Epidemiology. Her work focuses on addressing social determinants of health to reduce racial/ethnic disparities in food insecurity, physical activity, and chronic conditions.

• Co-teaches Field Epidemiology (spring) and Special Topics in Epidemiology (Health Equity) (summer) with Dr. Sharma
• Founder of the 7-week Summer Intensive Fellowship Experience (SIFE), a student-informed graduate health equity training program under the Center for Health Equity

Her research integrates multilevel, interprofessional strategies such as medical-legal partnerships to tackle social needs in underserved communities. She is affiliated with the Center for Health Equity and collaborates within the broader UTHealth Houston network, including partnerships like the recent produce prescription program funded by The Cigna Group Foundation to combat food insecurity among Hispanic adults.

As a non-tenure research faculty member, she contributes to public health education and community-focused interventions while leveraging her expertise in epidemiology and health equity.
