Robert Hammarberg

Dr. Robert Hammarberg is a Faculty Associate at UTHealth Houston School of Public Health, Department of Management, Policy and Community Health. He also serves as Assistant Director of Public Health Practice and Engagement, overseeing practicum services, career resources, and alumni affairs to support student success in public health.

His research interests focus on community health practice, health equity, and health policy management. He leads initiatives like the ACTion Lab, which connects students and faculty with community organizations to tackle public health challenges through applied research. He also contributes to the $10 million GET PHIT program, funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, to diversify the public health informatics workforce via training, internships, and career placement.

Dr. Hammarberg specializes in strengthening academic-public health agency partnerships, enhancing experiential learning, and advancing workforce development. His work includes designing pre-practicum training modules, faculty development workshops, and expanding public health education access in underserved regions.
