Gretchen H. Walton

Gretchen H. Walton, JD, MPH, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Management, Policy & Community Health at UTHealth Houston School of Public Health. Her research focuses on Cancer, Community Health Practice, Health Equity, and Women's Health. She is affiliated with the Center for Health Systems Research, Policy, and Practice and has led grant-funded projects in underserved communities.

Dr. Walton’s work addresses health disparities in African American, Asian, and Hispanic communities in Greater Houston through partnerships with organizations like Susan G. Komen – Houston Affiliate, the American Cancer Society, and the Episcopal Health Foundation. She previously served as Executive Director of the Breast Health Collaborative of Texas (BHCTexas), a 501(c)(3) with 3000+ members, and as Facilitator for the Galveston County Coalitions in Action “Partners in Pink” Collective Impact Group.

She maintains board memberships on the advocacy arm of the National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC), the Global Breast Care Initiative, and the American Association of Breast Care Professionals (AABCP), emphasizing community engagement and resource optimization to improve breast care access and quality.
