Jeffrey Heath is the Margaret V. Haggin Professor of Mathematics and Data Science and Chair of the Data Science Program at Centre College. He also serves as the NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative. Heath joined Centre in 2007 after earning his B.S. in Mathematics from Georgetown College and M.S. & Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics and Scientific Computation from the University of Maryland.

Heath’s research focuses on sports analytics and applied statistics in pharmacology, including impactful collaborations with Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center (EMRMC). His work with a student on a vancomycin dosage model was adopted by EMRMC and other hospitals, improving patient care protocols for over 119,000 people. He has mentored nearly 40 undergraduate research students, some of whom have pursued careers with organizations like the Pittsburgh Steelers.
His teaching excellence has been recognized with the Kirk Award (2019) and the MAA Distinguished Teaching Award (2020). Courses he teaches include Probability Theory, Mathematical Statistics, Statistical Modeling, and Sports Analytics.
