Dr. Jeff Mettler serves as an Assistant Professor of Kinesiology at Augustana College, where he conducts research in gait biomechanics and injury prevention with a focus on practical solutions for improving mobility and preventing injuries. He transforms the Peter J. Lindberg, M.D., Center for Health and Human Performance into a dual-purpose educational and community health hub through innovative initiatives.

- M.S. in Kinesiology and Health Promotion, University of Kentucky
- Ph.D. in Kinesiology, Iowa State University
His research centers on analyzing foot mechanics to understand disorder causes and examining biomechanical/physiological aspects of gait and running. This work directly addresses real-world problems to help people move better, live better, and avoid injuries while informing his student-centered teaching approach.
Dr. Mettler directs the Augustana College Kinesiology Fitness Clinic where students administer professional body composition assessments using BodPod systems and VO2 max tests via metabolic carts. This program develops student competencies in clinical equipment operation, patient communication, and adaptive problem-solving while providing affordable health services to the Quad Cities community.
