Jeff Inman is an Associate Professor at Drake University's School of Journalism & Mass Communication (SJMC), where he has been teaching since 2008. He is currently on sabbatical for the fall 2024 semester.
Professor Inman teaches courses in Magazine and Brand Media, Multimedia Journalism, and co-teaches a class in application development. He serves on the Board of Student Communications, which oversees all student media on campus, and acts as advisor to the Times-Delphic, the university's newspaper, and Drake Mag, its national award-winning magazine.
Prior to his academic career, Inman spent 15 years covering music and pop culture in Iowa and Las Vegas, serving as Arts and Entertainment Editor at three alternative newsweeklies. His freelance work has appeared in over 50 publications including Rolling Stone, Billboard, Guitar World, Revolver and Better Homes & Gardens.
He earned his bachelor's degree in rhetoric from Iowa State University and his master's degree in education from Drake University. His professional background bridges practical journalism experience with academic instruction, giving him a unique perspective in the classroom.
