Jeff Dunn is an Instructor of Arts Leadership at the Eastman School of Music, part of the University of Rochester. He serves as Program Manager at the Institute for Music Leadership, overseeing initiatives like the Eastman Leadership Academy and managing grant programs. He teaches career and leadership courses and provides career advising to students. Additionally, he is an Instructor of Low Brass at Onondaga Community College and has taught at Ithaca College and the Eastman Community Music School.
Jeff holds a Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music from the Eastman School of Music, and a Bachelor of Music from Ithaca College.
His professional interests focus on arts leadership and music education, emphasizing the development of both musical and non-musical skills for 21st-century musicians. He is dedicated to advancing trombone performance through his work with chamber ensembles and his advocacy for young musicians through programs like the Texas Trombone Institute, which he founded.
Jeff has received recognition for his performance, including winning the 2021 American Trombone Quartet Competition with the Outer Loop Quartet. In advising and grants, he manages student initiatives and professional development programs. He collaborates with ensembles such as the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra Brass Quintet and the Outer Loop Quartet, and has presented clinics at conferences including the International Trombone Festival and the Texas Music Educators Association Convention.
