Prof Jeff Breckon is Associate Dean (Research & Innovation) at Teesside University's School of Health and Life Sciences. With a PhD in Exercise Psychology, he leads a 55-member research team and manages £4m annual research income. His expertise focuses on physical activity behavior change using Motivational Interviewing (MI) and cognitive-behavioral techniques. Over £3.5m of his career research funding comes from grants like the NIHR-funded £1.2m PA Booster project targeting sedentary populations. He has trained 3,500+ health professionals in MI and currently holds £1.2m in Innovate UK/NHMRC grants.
